Lecture #1: The New Aesthetic This lecture interested me quite a bit, as it seemed to have relevance to my artistic field of Digital Media. At this event, Scott Contreras-Koterbay and his co-author Lucasz Mirocha explained the outline of their novel, an analysis on upcoming technology and its relationship with modern art. I was astounded by the things these two men had explored in the digital field, and how they had labelled glitches as forms of beautiful art and random people with Iphones as basically professional photographers. It made me feel like a complete buffoon as a digital media student, as I never even considered many of these possibilities. However, having attended the lecture, I am happy to say that I have certainly learned from the two authors, and will take some of the ideas with me throughout my digital media career. Below is a picture of the cover of the book the lecture was based on.
