This week in honors colloquium, we talked about ourselves quite a bit. We talked about things we brought to college, both physical and emotional things. I said that I brought the typical stuff with me, items like my computer, my phone, food, and obvious stuff like that. Then I realized exactly how much I really HAD brought, I can't actually think of something I didn't bring that had any value to me at all. I brought my friends and family with me because I brought technology, and since I brought my friends and family, I have also brought myself confidence and a will to succeed. Anybody I could ever desire to speak with is literally just a call away. It's extremely convenient and comforting. Of course, we were also asked to do a self reflection. Overall, I feel very different as a college student. There are many more responsibilities and freedoms, but that's obvious. Nothing really changed besides how I approach my situation. I may feel different, but not much has changed for me. I'm objectively solitary, and realizing this has helped me cope with loneliness and homesickness easily. I'm still getting used to things, like dorm living, but that's nothing too difficult. All I need to worry about are my classes and my homework, and If I can conquer those, I'll be golden.
